Dr Satyadas performed gallbladder surgery on me recently. The operation was a success and I was very happy to be free from the pain post operation. Dr Satyadas visited me in the ward the day after the operation to see how my recovery was progressing. He was happy with my progress. The anaesthetist visited me a couple of hours prior to surgery and she commented that I was lucky to be receiving surgery that morning because the surgeon who would be operating on me is one of the finest surgeons that she has ever worked with. As you can imagine, that was good news to my ears. The gallbladder had been badly infected and I think that the surgery had been a bit of a challenge for the surgeon because when he visited me in the ward the following day he commented that the operation had been difficult because of the extent of the infection, in fact he remarked to me that it had been a "nasty nasty infection." I remember as I was waking up immediately after the operation, the anaesthetist said to me that the operation had been a difficult one as a result of the infection. I remained in hospital for three days post operation. When someone is lying in bed in hospital they have plenty of time to think about things and something kept coming to my mind about when Dr Satyadas visited me in the ward the day after the op. There was something different about this man, there was something special about him, he has such a lovely personality and the key thing that I noticed was that he actually genuinely cares for his patients and for their recovery. I had a follow up appointment with him in his outpatient clinic three weeks later and it was then that I realised in full just how special this man actually is. He has an aura around him that simply makes you feel good just by being in his company. He was delighted when he checked my scars and found that they had completely healed and that I was pain free and fully recovered. Occasionaly, at different times in my life, very special people have crossed my path and they have had an enormous effect on me without them even knowing it and I've never forgotten any of them.. Dr Satyadas is the latest special person to have crossed my path and he wont be forgotten either. As for the anaesthetist, she chatted with me in the theatre because I remarked that I was feeling nervous. She was simply incredible at making me feel comfortable while waiting for the surgeon to arrive. I know that both of these special people would say that they were only doing their jobs. They were doing much more than that, they were caring for me and you have to know something about love in order to do that. I'm just glad that they know something about love. Kind Regards James Stephens

I recently met Mr Satyadas after being diagnosed with gallstones. On first meeting him, I felt immediately at ease with him. He exudes professional ability and experience and this comes across so strongly in conversation. Nothing was too much trouble as he carefully explained the procedure I was to soon have. The Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal using keyhole surgery) was talked through, including the benefits and any possible side effects. I had questions, which were clearly and calmly explained. I left that initial consultation confident and had no concerns about the surgery. I was soon in hospital and before my operation Mr Satyadas visited my room to talk through anything I wanted to ask. Once again he put me fully at ease and had no concerns at all. Following the surgery that evening, he returned to my room to check my progress and let me know how the surgery had gone. The next morning he was there again to discharge me. He provided excellent recuperation advice and two weeks later, I saw him again in his clinic for a follow up consultation. We talked over the surgery and my recovery and my return to work. He checked me thoroughly for any negative reaction from the surgery, of which there were none. I could not praise Mr Satyadas highly enough, and these words do not do him justice. Throughout what has been a very painful time in my life, he has offered me great support, guidance and care. Not only that, he has certainly gone the extra mile in offering so much more than I had ever expected of an extremely busy professional. I, along with my whole family would like to thank him from the bottom of our hearts.

Mr Satyadas repaired an inguinal hernia for me at the Alexandra hospital. I was seen very quickly and operated on within days, the whole process taking less than a week. My care throughout was of the highest standard and could not be faulted. I had a hernia some 15 years previously on my other side which was corrected with open surgery , but this treatment was undertaken laparoscopically. The experience this time was completely different. I had virtually no post-operative pain and took no pain relief after 6 hours. My recovery was very speedy and I was pronounced fit and ready for anything within 12 days. I can honestly say that, if it was not for the three small wounds in my lower abdomen , I would not have realised I had undergone the procedure at all. A first class result.

Patient of Mr Thomas Satyadas at Manchester Royal Infirmary All the plaudits that have been given on this website regarding Mr Thomas Satyadas are so very true. I was advised in October last year that I needed a Whipple procedure. A very frightening prospect. Luckily I had been recommended to see Mr Satyadas. My husband and I met with him and my fears were immediately allayed. He explained everything so clearly and his whole persona exuded confidence which in turn he gave to us. He guided me through a very difficult period. Time is something Thomas has in abundance for his patients. He also spent a great deal of his time with my husband and two sons answering their questions. nothing was too much trouble. He kept my family informed every step of the way. The care by his team at the MRI was first class from theatre to HDU and eventually ward 12, with ongoing scans and clinic appointments. Six months hence I have my life back. As a wife mother and grandma I thank you Mr Thomas Satyadas . I have a great deal of affection for this man - as a surgeon he is pure genius. If you want great care you will not find better than he. I have been most lucky to have Mr. Thomas Satyadas as my consultant. I have no words to express my gratitude to the very kind, compassionate gentleman. I have had nothing but the best advise and care given by him. He is a kind of person that makes you feel better the first time you see him, no matter what the issue, regarding your health. He was very precise and open about what was he intending to do. I could not have asked for a better consultant/surgeon. Soon after my operation, Mr. Satyadas personally called my son who had accompanied me, to let him know that everything had gone well. I felt important and not just another patient on his list. Thank you Mr. Satyadas. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I could praise you for ever. You are a great person.
